The ICOM IC-7100 is equipped with an IR receiver which can be remote controlled by a standard IR remote control. The IR control port is connected to the radio via the control panel and the IR port of the radio.
The ICOM IC-7100 can be equipped with an external antenna. The antenna is connected to the radio via the ICOM antenna port and has no connector itself. The radio can be set to remote the antenna via the ICOM antenna port. This is called remote antenna via ICOM port.
The connection between the ICOM control panel and the radio is called ICOM/Radio-CI-V or simply CI-V. It is a RS232 connection on a PC with a ICOM CT-17 connected to it. This is the port used by the control panel to control the radio and not the COM port.
If you want to control the radio via an ICOM CI-V interface in mode 1 (Radio-RRC) you have to use the ICOM control panel which is connected via a normal RS232 connection to your PC. You have to set up the ICOM control panel to a different port than your radio. So if your PC is connected via COM1 on your ICOM control panel you can set the radio to COM2 and connect the radio to COM3. If the radio is set to COM1, then it can only be connected to COM1. Check the settings of your radio to not set the control panel to COM1 at first.
In the menu you have the possibility to switch the radio into the operational mode 3 (Remote Control Mode). You are able to do this with the RS232 Control option in the menu. If you have chosen the ICOM-CI-V Option 827ec27edc
